From Valerie Wiebe, RN, BN. MN | President & Chief Operating Officer Concordia Hospital and Concordia Place
Please join me in celebrating nursing week at Concordia as we recognize our 900+ nurses who serve in many capacities and across many roles at Concordia Hospital and Concordia Place. This includes RN’s, LPN’s, NP’s, HCA’s and Nurse Managers, Nurse Educators, Nursing executive. We are also fortunate to have RN’s with specialty education in Oncology, Psychiatry ED, ICU, OR, Pain management. We also want to thank our nursing colleagues from Home Care, MyHealth Teams, Access River East, the Long Term Access Centre and our nursing students.
At Concordia it is evident that nursing is a vital profession for the health care of the citizens of Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Nursing is more than a profession. It’s what you were put on earth to do. The care you provide with such passion and conviction is evident, even during those times when it isn’t easy. As a nurse, when you think about all the patients and their loved ones that you have worked with over the years, imagine…you gave a little piece of yourself to each of them as they did to you…and so “this is nursing”.
As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may not remember your name but they will never forget the way you made them feel. God bless you for your incredible capacity to care. You make a difference every day!
This week, I ask that each and every one of you take the time to personally thank a nurse at Concordia Hospital, Concordia Place, Home Care, in our Community Health Centers and those working across our system for the effort, compassion, professionalism, and vital care they give every step of the way.
This year’s theme is #YesThisIsNursing and #ThankYouConcordiaNurses. Our thanks to Janice Hansell and Kathy Mathae who led the planning and coordination of these fun events along with Nursing Practice Council members Brenda Sullivan (N1S), Aldous Poon (N3E) and Administrative Assistant, Karen Pearson.
Please join us in celebrating the nurses you work with every day by participating in the activities that have been.
Happy Nurses week everyone!!
