As a charitable organization, the Concordia Foundation is dedicated to preserving the high quality of health and wellness services provided by Concordia (Concordia Hospital, Concordia Place, Concordia Hip & Knee Institute, Concordia Wellness Projects and Concordia Village). Concordia Foundation connects health and housing needs to community resources by building awareness, generating commitment, and inviting financial contributions.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors devotes its time to review the organization’s goals and resources. Through the generous support of individuals and corporations, we’re able to continue our ongoing efforts to build a better future for you, your family, and your community. We have embarked upon many projects over the years; some of our past successes include:
With the support of many donors, construction was completed to the 11,000 square feet community clinic, a metrology lab and health information services. Construction was completed June 2013.
The Community Clinic will be an asset to health care services in our community. The primary care medical clinic on the ground floor of our hospital will be a home for both family practice and specialist physicians. It will also help family physicians be involved in providing inpatient care.
Concordia Community Clinic is expected to be part of a larger Primary Care Network. Concordia is actively supporting Manitoba Health and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority to work with neighbourhood clinics to improve access to primary care for all area residents.[hr]
Thanks to Concordia Wellness Projects Inc., through careful planning and ongoing generous support, construction was completed in 2009 and the Concordia Hip & Knee Institute celebrated its grand opening September, 2009.
Building tenancies include, on the 1st floor, Shoppers Drug Mart; on the 2nd floor, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority; and on the 3rd floor, the Concordia Joint Replacement Group (CJRG).
Concordia Hospital, the Concordia Foundation and the Concordia Joint Replacement Group continue to work together with research and community leaders and our donors to strengthen and expand the scope of the Concordia Hip & Knee Joint Replacement Program. Of the $10 million campaign, the Foundation has raised $2.5 million towards sophisticated equipment needed for patient care and research at the Concordia Hip & Knee Institute. Your donations continue to help fund much-needed equipment.
With the generous support of donors and significant grants received from The Winnipeg Foundation and the Sir Thomas Cropo Foundation, we were able to complete our $3.7M Emergency Room Redevelopment and Renovation project.[hr]
In spring of 1998, the Manitoba Government invited Concordia Hospital to build a personal care home next to the hospital. The hospital accepted the invitation, and through the coordinated efforts of the Concordia Foundation, generous sponsors, & many donations, on May 10th, 2000, Concordia Place opened as a long-term care facility with 140 beds.[hr]
The Concordia Foundation supports all aspects of The Concordia Campus. We consult with our partners and medical staff to determine the equipment priorities associated with areas of greatest need.
Thanks to generous support from families and organizations, the Foundation has continued to build on its legacy of compassionate care and has fulfilled its commitment to Concordia Hospital in many ways:
• completion of two new operating rooms
• new medical equipment purchases (blanket warmer, ice machine, Glidescope, Broda chairs, comfort items for family rooms and our patients in Oncology, blood pressure monitors, bladder scan equipment, additional equipment and comfort items for patients and family use).
